Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of San Juan County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its material, or submitting a search means that you accept them. Do not continue using the website if you disagree.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no government affiliation. Neither it nor its advertising partners provides a service intended for credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or another decision governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its purpose is to help readers find official criminal-record resources in San Juan County and Utah. It is not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independent from every public office. It does not store government criminal records, retrieve official reports, conduct official checks, or submit filings for a visitor.

Its material identifies the San Juan County Sheriff, Utah courts, the Bureau of Criminal Identification, and the Utah Sex, Kidnap, and Child Abuse Offender Registry as the offices and systems that control their respective records. Some pages also connect to third-party research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the website, you agree not to:

  • Use the site in violation of federal, Utah, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, harass, or target another person with information found here
  • Use its content for an FCRA-regulated employment, housing, lending, or insurance decision
  • Attempt unauthorized access to a system, account, or protected area
  • Operate a bot, scraper, or similar automated collection tool against the pages
  • Disrupt performance or prevent another visitor from accessing the website

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information from this website or a linked tool to intimidate, threaten, harass, stalk, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. Utah restricts misuse of its Sex, Kidnap, and Child Abuse Offender Registry, and conduct directed at a registrant can carry criminal consequences. Public registry data supports safety awareness. It does not authorize vigilantism or unlawful blacklisting.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create consumer reports, credit reports, or official background checks. Our advertising partners do not turn this resource into an FCRA screening service. You must not use information from these pages or linked tools to:

  • Make an employment decision about a worker or applicant
  • Evaluate a tenant or housing application
  • Set insurance terms or decide creditworthiness
  • Determine eligibility for a permit, license, or public benefit where consumer-reporting law applies
  • Carry out any other action regulated by the FCRA

When a lawful purpose requires such screening, use an authorized, FCRA-compliant provider and follow the applicable consent and notice rules. Utah BCI services do not remove those duties.

5. No Legal Advice

Website content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a warrant, charge, conviction, or Utah expungement rule applies to a particular person. Consult a licensed Utah lawyer for that analysis.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are offered "as is." We make no promise that:

  • Partner search results will be complete or correct
  • Every item of information will remain accurate and current
  • Access will always be available without interruption
  • The pages will contain no bug, error, or security weakness

Charges, dismissals, seals, and expungements can alter a criminal record after publication. Updates may lag or be incomplete. No statement here is an official representation by the San Juan County Sheriff, a Utah court, or another government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to the Sheriff's Office, Utah court portals, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search providers. Those destinations control their own availability, content, privacy practices, and prices. We are not responsible for them. Review the destination's terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

San Juan County Criminal History or its content partners own the website's text, code, graphics, and logos. Written permission is required to copy, distribute, adapt, or create derivative material from that content.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for harm arising from use of the website, reliance on its material, or use of a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims or demands caused by your use of the website or breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Utah law governs these terms. Relevant state provisions include the Government Records Access and Management Act for government-held records, Utah Code Section 53-10-108 for criminal-history dissemination, and Section 13-45-601 for specified consumer-reporting limits. Any dispute connected with use of the website must be brought in a court located in Utah.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these conditions. An updated version takes effect when it is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be suspended or terminated at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected language will be limited only as much as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
