Why We Built This Site
Access in Utah depends on both the record and its custodian. San Juan County Sheriff holds law-enforcement and jail material, while court clerks hold filed charges, proceedings, and dispositions. Utah Department of Public Safety's Bureau of Criminal Identification provides subject-controlled statewide histories, and the Utah Department of Corrections reports current state custody or supervision. The Utah Sex, Kidnap, and Child Abuse Offender Registry serves a different public-notification purpose. We built this resource to make those boundaries, contacts, search tools, and request steps easier to follow.
What You Will Find Here
- Record guides: how criminal court cases are searched and read in San Juan County
- Agency contacts: where to reach the Sheriff, the Monticello and Blanding courts, and Utah's statewide systems
- Official self-review steps: how a person requests their own Utah history from BCI and uses fingerprint services
- Record-clearing context: where Utah expungement petitions begin and which official offices control the result
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. It is not connected with a Utah court, the San Juan County Sheriff, a police department, or any state agency. Those limits matter:
- We do not issue certified court files, booking records, or criminal-history reports
- We cannot submit a GRAMA request, expungement petition, or other filing for a reader
- We do not run an official record review for any person
- We cannot interpret a charge, warrant, disposition, or expungement rule as legal advice
- We cannot promise that an agency's address, fee, hours, or procedure has not changed
An official copy must come from the office that created or maintains it, such as the Sheriff, a Utah court clerk, or the Bureau of Criminal Identification.
Search Partners
Third-party providers power search boxes found on some pages. They operate their own products, choose their prices, and control their results. If a visitor follows one of those tools to a paid service, we may receive a referral fee that supports this resource. We do not set the provider's charges or decide what its search returns.
